Medical oncology is the ongoing evaluation and management of cancer patients through the treatment of their disease with chemotherapy agents and other drugs.
The medical oncology team consists of medical oncologists, nurse practitioners, oncology nurses and other oncology-trained staff. Our multidisciplinary team works with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and diagnosis. They will continue to assist patients with side effects they may experience during chemotherapy treatments, offer medical guidance and help patients make decisions throughout their treatment.
Our medical oncology team are all board certified and have years of experience in treating blood and marrow transplant, breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, neuro oncology and melanoma/sarcoma.
The majority of our nurses are OCN certified, and provide expert care to patients receiving biotherapy, chemotherapy, and blood products.
Our pharmacists are some of the first in the nation to achieve core oncology certification from the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association. They may also hold certifications from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties in order to provide patients with evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management. Our pharmacy technicians have all completed nationally recognized chemotherapy certification courses to help ensure patients receive safe and accurate medications.
